(BSNL) Rajasthan has announced free roaming services for its prepaid customers with special tariff vouchers.<br /> To avail free roaming, customers need to recharge with STV worth Rs. 92, which will give unlimited free incoming calls across the country. For outgoing, including local and national, BSNL customers will have to pay 1.5 p/sec. The STV is valid up to 90 days.<br /> BSNL Rajasthan has also launched two more STVs worth Rs. 5 and Rs. 67 as part of its free roaming plans.

India’s National Telecom Backbone and Pan India 3G<br />Mobile Service operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd<br />(BSNL) today announced the new ‘attractive’ SMS<br />Packs for its prepaid mobile subscribers (2G and 3G)<br />across all circles.<br />BSNL has withdrawn its existing SMS pack of Rs. 53<br />Rs. 32 and introduced NEW attractive SMS packs at<br />Rs. 36, Rs. 46 and Rs. 56 with more free sms and<br />longer validity period. The New SMS STVs will be<br />available via Ctopup and through SMS based<br />activation from 17th November 2011.<br />BSNL’s New SMS Pack of Rs. 36 will offers 3000<br />Local/National/Roaming SMS FREE valid for 30 Days.<br />While Subscriber can send 4500 Local/National/Roaming<br />SMS FREE (200 SMS per Day) at Rs. 46 valid for 45<br />days.<br />With new SMS Pack of Rs. 56 subscriber will get the<br />benefits of 6000 Local/National/Roaming SMS valid for<br />60 days from the date of activation. All new SMS<br />Pack comes with the cap of 200 SMS/day as per<br />TRAI regulation and will be available from 17th<br />November 2011.<br />All SMS Packs are applicable while in HOME LSA as<br />well as National Roaming across India. BSNL LAUNCHES BHARAT BERRY EMAIL SERVICES

State-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.<br />(BSNL) has collaborated with Bharat Berry<br />Technologies to provide push e-mail services for all its<br />GSM mobile subscribers across India. BSNL is targeting<br />its new Bharat Berry services for all range of handsets<br />running on operating systems such as BlackBerry,<br />Symbian and Android. The Bharat Berry push e-mail<br />services give an always-on capability by which new<br />emails are actively transferred. Moreover, users can<br />create cloud-based backup of contacts, tasks, calendar<br />and notes. It would also work with Microsoft Outlook<br />on user's computer.<br />BSNL is offering one-month free trial of Bharat Berry<br />services to all its subscribers. "As the mobile data<br />connectivity is improving and data usage is growing,<br />more and more customers are looking for push e-mail<br />solution on their mobile handsets as a productivity tool<br />and as a means to remain connected," says BSNL<br />chairman R.K. Upadhyay. "This BSNL and Bharat<br />Berry partnership will provide its customers with an<br />easy to use, cost effective solution for their mobile<br />push e-mail requirements," he adds.<br />BSNL GSM users can avail this service by sending an<br />SMS with “SUB BB” to 51123 and follow the basic<br />steps for activation. To access the full-fledged Bharat<br />Berry services including personal information manager<br />and e-mail, sync users will be charged Rs. 80 per<br />month. The individual services are available for Rs. 50<br />each per month for both pre-paid and post-paid BSNL<br />GSM subscribers. BSNL LAUNCHES CHOOSE YOUR MOBILE NUMBER SCHEME

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has<br />launched a “Choose Your Mobile No.” scheme in its<br />Andhra Pradesh circle, allowing its customers to select<br />the mobile number of their choice from a database of<br />over 100,000 different numbers. BSNL's new scheme,<br />which comes into effect from today, is available for<br />free. The list of available mobile numbers can be found<br />on BSNL-AP's official website – www.ap.bsnl.co.in.<br />Users will receive a unique PIN from BSNL after<br />selecting the number of their choice. The number will<br />disappear from the list soon after one selects that<br />particular number. The user will then need to go to the<br />customer service center to activate that number.<br />Customers can book a maximum of two numbers.<br />BSNL will be updating every day to make sure that<br />users are furnished a list of 100,000 different numbers.<br />Besides, BSNL-AP has also launched a new<br />Removable User Identity Module (RUIM)-based<br />CDMA service to boost its available WLL network.<br />BSNL's WLL services are pretty similar to what offered<br />by other CDMA operators.<br />According to Rajeev Agarwal, chief general manager<br />of BSNL-AP circle, BSNL has been a major gainer in<br />the circle after the launch of Mobile Number Portability<br />system. He says over 200,000 subscribers have joined<br />the BSNL network through MNP.<br />“The circle has become the market leader in net<br />addition of customers, selling more than double the<br />number of connections of the second operator in rest<br />consistently from the last couple of months,” says Mr.<br />Aggarwal.

MOBILE NUMBER PORTABILITY BADLY AFFECTED BSNL AND MTNL

It will be quite harsh to say that the Mobile Number<br /> Portability (MNP) system has backfired for the<br /> government. But if the reports and figures are anything<br /> to go by,the government has been financially hit hard<br /> after the launch of the system. The two state-run<br /> telecom companies Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL)<br /> and the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL)<br /> have lost millions of subscribers to the private telecom<br /> companies.<br /> The latest figures released by the government say that<br /> sofar nearly 9.33 lakh BSNL subscribers have<br /> switched to private players using the MNP. The<br /> number of customers joining the BSNL network<br /> remains as low as 3.49 lakhs. Thus, the total loss<br /> incurred by BSNL is more than 5.84 lakh subscribers.<br /> The MTNL has no different story to tell. The network<br /> that operates in Delhi and Mumbai circles lost 67,198<br /> subscribers to private players, while only 11,593<br /> joining the network. The net outgo is of 55,605<br /> subscribers.<br /> It may be recalled that the BSNL was once number<br /> one mobile operator in the country. But over the years<br /> the company regularly lost its subscribers base to the<br /> private players. With 9.28 crore subscribers, the BSNL<br /> stands at the fifth position in the market led by Bharti<br /> Airtel. The BSNL owns a mere 11 percent of market<br /> share, while Airtel has nearly 20 percent market share<br /> with 16.70 crore subscribers.<br /> And the most notable fact is that Airtel is increasing its<br /> subscribers base every month unlike the BSNL that is<br /> ending in red every month. According to reports, Airtel<br /> is adding whopping 25 lakh customers every month.<br /> The figures clearly show the dismal performance of the<br /> state-run telecom companies. The private players, on<br /> the other hand, rose well enough in the meantime. The<br /> BSNLand MTNL saw a rapid dip in their landline<br /> subscribers soon after the mobile revolution started<br /> peaking 6-7 years ago. And now the MNP is<br /> apparently not helping much.

BSNL has disconnected its services to Airtel, Vodafone<br /> and Idea in Haryana circle, days after the state-run<br /> telecom operator made similar moves in Punjab and<br /> Chandigarh. According to reports, BSNL ended its<br /> “point of interconnect” services to the private operators<br /> due to non payment of carrier charges. The BSNL<br /> move has led to disruption of landline and mobile<br /> services in Haryana.<br /> Moreover, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea subscribers in<br /> Haryana will not be able to call emergency numbers<br /> such as 100,101 and 102 from their mobile phones.<br /> However, the STD services are reported to be<br /> unaffected. The BSNL landline subscribers in Haryana<br /> have complained of not being able to connect with<br /> mobile phones of Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. Similarly,<br /> subscribers of these three operators could not establish<br /> link with fixed line number of BSNL in the circle.<br /> Earlier, BSNL had disconnected its services to five<br /> mobile operators including RCom, Tata Teleservices,<br /> Airtel, Idea and Vodafone. According to reports, BSNL<br /> restored services to Reliance and Tata on Monday<br /> after the intervention of the telecom tribunal.<br /> BSNL has nearly 5.81 lakh landline connections in<br /> Haryana, while Airtel, Vodafone and Idea 22.15 lakh,<br /> 42.02 lakh and 32.56 lakh connections, respectively, as<br /> onJuly 31, 2011. According to BSNL Haryana, the<br /> private telecom operators’ total pending dues<br /> amounted to Rs. 2.70 crore, including Rs. 98 lakh from<br /> Vodfone, Rs. 92 lakh from Idea and Rs. 81 lakh from<br /> Airtel.<br /> The state-run telecom operator owns nine Secondary<br /> Switching Areas (SSA) in Haryana. State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched its Voice and Video over Internet Protocol (VVoIP) service in the country. BSNL has partnered with Sai Infosystem (SiS) to kick off the high speed Internet phone services. With the new services, BSNL subscribers will be able to make audio and video calls<br /> at will on any landline, mobile or Internet Protocol phone anywhere in the world, provided both the ends have video phone equipment.<br /> Sam Pitroda, advisor to the Prime Minister of India on public information, infrastructure and innovation,launched the service by making first VVoIP call. The service will be initially available in Ahmedabad and by the end of this month, the service will be launched in<br /> the entire Gujarat state. According to officials, by the end of March 2012, the service will be available pan-India.<br /> According to BSNL officials, the new service is going to be economical as compared to other conventional video conferencing services. The state-run company is also said to be working with leading international carriers to ensure smooth international calls.<br /> The customers will be charged 40 paise per minute for audio and Rs. 2 per minute for video calls within the country over VVoIP. The international call charges are<br /> also pretty low as a call to the US will cost Rs. 1.20 per minute, to the UK it will cost Rs. 1.20 on landline,Rs. 7.20 to mobile, and Rs. 1.20 per minute to China.BSNL will offer the VVoIP services at a monthly rental of Rs. 150 only.
