</div>Idea Cellular has bagged 4G licence for its 8 circles - Kerala, Maharashtra & Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Haryana, and North East. The operator won a total 65.2 MHz of spectrum in the recently held auction of 900 MHz and 1800 MHz spectrum. 
Idea will be launching 4G services in Kerala with 10MHz, while rest of the circles will be using 5 MHz of 1800 MHz spectrum won in each of these service areas. The operator also 
Idea now also aims to launch 3G services in Delhi with 5 MHz on the 900 MHz band. Besides the right to deploy the 3G services with 5 MHz on the 900 MHz band in the strategically significant metro market of Delhi. The company has also acquired additional top up spectrum in 1800 MHz in Mumbai metro and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh – 2 MHz each, Maharashtra – 4 MHz, Punjab – 3 MHz, Gujarat – 1.6 MHz, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana – 1 MHz each, and Delhi – 0.6 MHz. 
With this additional spectrum auction win, Idea's 6 strategic markets of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra & Goa, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Punjab, and Haryana, representing 53% of its revenues, will seamlessly experience all three Mobility technologies - GSM, 3G, and 4G services in the coming years.

AIRTEL LAUNCHES 4G IN BANGLORE

</div>Bharti Airtel on Friday released a joint statement with Apple announcing the launch of "India's first 4G on mobile" services in Bangalore. According to the statement, iPhone 5sand 5ccustomers will be able to use 4G services, as these phones support the 2300MHz TD-LTE band that Airtelis using for 4G services in the city. Other phones that support the 2300MHz TD-LTE band, like Airtel's co-branded phone with Huawei, the Ascend P1 LTE, will also be able to enjoy the 4G services. Unfortunately, there are not many such phones available in the Indian market, hence the claims of the service being 'exclusive' to Apple'sphones. 
Notably, Airtel says 3G subscribers will be able to get 4G mobile Internet speeds at the same rate as their current 3G tariffs. To access the services, existing 2G and 3G subscribers will have to upgrade their SIM card to a 4G SIM card. 
Airtel says while data browsing will be on 4G networks (where available), voice calls will be routed to 2G/ 3G networks 'seamlessly' with the CSFB (Circuit Switched Fall Back) technology. In addition to the regular 3G plans, Airtel also announced the launch of a new 4G plan for heavy data users, giving customers 10GB of 4G data for Rs. 1,000.

Airtel had launched India's first 4G network in April 2012 in Kolkata, later expanding the service to Bangaloreand Pune, though these have been been data-only offerings till date.

AIRTEL REDUCED 4G DATA RATES

Airtel customers can now avail its 4G data plans starting from Rs 450, down 31 per cent from Rs 650 earlier in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune and Chandigarh circles.
The company, which recently reduced 2G data tariffs by 90 per cent in Punjab and Haryana, is trying to boost up data usage and increase adoption for its 4G service for improving revenues. 
It is also offering free access to alibrary of 1,000 movies and 100 games on plans above Rs 999 in the 4G services. 
"Starting from monthly rent of Rs 450, these new Airtel 4G plans will encourage more and more customers to enjoy superfast 4G speeds - now delivered at even greater value," the company said in a statement. 
As per the new plans, users will be able to get 4G speed at 3G rates.
"The Rs 450, Rs 650 and Rs 750 Airtel 4G plans offer data quota (GBs) at rents similar to 3G plans at superfast 4G speeds," the company said. 
Airtel is offering 2GB, 3GB and 4GB free data usage for plans of Rs 450, Rs 650 and Rs 750.
On the higher end, users will get 80GB free data for Rs 4,799 package, 45GB free data for Rs 2,999 package and 25GB free data for Rs 2,049 package along with free access to library services.

AIRTEL LAUNCHES 4G SERVICES IN MOHALI, CHANDIGARH AND PANCHKULA

Bharti Airtel has expanded the rollout of its 4th generation mobile broadband services (4G) to three new cities namely - Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. The operator is already offering 4G LTE services in Kolkata, Pune and Bengaluru.
“The much awaited launch of Airtel 4G services fulfills a huge market requirement and will give customers in Chandigarh the power to upgrade to cutting edge 4G LTE technology - the most advanced wireless broadband experience available across the globe today,” says Jagbir Singh, CTO & Director, Network Services Group, Bharti Airtel in a release.
“This launch is another first by Airtel that further enhances the footprint of mobile broadband in India. We are optimistic about the potential of Airtel 4G services and invite our data savvy customers inPunjab to enjoy this world class data experience.”
It's notable Airtel is only 4G LTE service provider in the country right now. Other players such as Reliance and Tikona are expected to launch their 4G services later this year .

RELIANCE TO TEST SERVICES ON 4G NETWORKS

Coming from an Economic Times 
article, it looks like Reliance 
Industries limited (RIL) is all set 
to get approval from the telecom 
department (DoT) for testing 
voice services on its yet-to-be- 
launched 4G networks. This 
comes as a surprise as Airtel has 
been the only 4G player as of 
now, with limited network 
distribution. 
The telecom department has 
suggested that Reliance be 
allowed to test 10,000 
connections on its network, 
which means that there can be 
10,000 4G voice enabled 
numbers. DoT has also said that 
Infotel broadband, the only 
provider with pan Indian 4G 
coverage will be letting other 
operators test their 4G 
connection on its network. In 
that case, the 10,000 test 
numbers can make calls to other 
network providers too. 
Mukesh Ambani's Infotel 
broadband, wanting to test the 
voice services means only one 
thing. It is getting ready for 
launching the services when the 
regulations are lifted by 2013. As 
of now, the LTE services are 
offered at the 2300 MHz band in 
the country, which is not voice 
enabled, unlike in other countries 
like the US where the 700 MHz 
band includes voice. But RIL has 
asked permission to enable, 
what it calls Voice over LTE 
(VoLTE) to bypass the 
restrictions. 
With that said, RIL being the only 
player in the country with a Pan 
Indian 4G license creates an 
excellent opportunity for the 4G 
launch.
