MTS ROLLS OUT TWO NEW ANDROID SMARTPHONES

Sistema Shyam TeleServices (SSTL) that operates
under the brand name of MTS has launched two new
budget smartphones – MTS Livewire and MTS Mtag
3.1. Both these smartphones run on Android operating
system and are priced below Rs. 5,000. The new MTS
phones are locked, which means users cannot use
SIMs of other telecom operators.
The MTS Livewire is available at Rs. 2,999, while the
Mtag 3.1 comes for Rs. 3,499, both with one year
contracts (for postpaid customers). For prepaid
customers, the phones come at Rs. 4,999 and Rs.
5,499 respectively. The prepaid customers are offered
150 minutes of calls, 150 SMS and 150 MB data free
for 12 months, without any limitation of minimum
recharge.
On other hand, the postpaid customers will have to
shell out Rs. 250 monthly rental during the 12 month
contract period. However, they will get 250 MB of
data, 250 minutes calls and 250 SMSes free every
month for 12 months.

Talking about specs, the MTS Livewire comes with
Android 2.2 Froyo OS and CDMA EV-DO network.
The phone is preloaded with various Google apps such
as Google Mail, Google Talk and Google Maps. The
MTS Livewire has a smart Voice Search functionality
which enables users to find information without
needing to type any text.
The MTS Mtag 3.1 has a 2.8-inch capacitive touch-
screen with 240x320 pixels display. The Mtag 3.1 also
runs on Android 2.2 Froyo OS. The device has a 3.2
MP camera and supports Multi-format Audio/Video
player with 3.5mm jack. The MTS Mtag 3.1 comes
preloaded with MTS TV app that enables users to
access Live TV and On demand video playback.
